Harvest Today

Easter lily bloomed this morning.....a little late :))

Gigantic squash!

WOW! I picked over 2 cups of blueberries from my own garden!!

Well, today has been a busy garden day. I put 3 freezer bags of squash up and 2 freezer bags of green beans! Can't wait to try them later. :))
I am excited about the over 2 cups of blueberries. Haven't decided what to do with them besides blueberry muffins. Maybe just eat them for dinner. :))
Erica put up some cucumbers to make pickles. Still no tomatoes.....but maybe soon. The banana pepper will be ready in a day or two. We are thinking of making sweet banana peppers with them. Yum!
Hope you have a lovely day!

Erica's news

Erica goes to her lymphedema doctor in Houston twice a year. So we went in May (after school is out!) to see how everything was progressing and make sure she is stable. GREAT NEWS! She is doing better than last year! We are very excited and give God all the glory! Just wanted to share our good news with everyone so you also could praise God with us. =)))

PS I did make blueberry muffins (see previous post)

Something new!

Today I tried something new. I blanched 10 cups of fresh squash and put it in the freezer! I've never tried before because we have never had squash grow before AND if it did, we didn't have so much we couldn't eat it all! So after researching freezing vs canning; I decided to freeze it. To retain more nutritional value, blanching is recommended. Soooo, I have now put my 3 bags in the freezer. Now to wait until we can try some. :))
Happy day!

Easter 2011

family!

sisters!

i love silliness!

my beloved and me =)

Easter service this year was different for us because we helped with the children for SS and worship. I think it was definitely enjoyed by all! It was awesome to watch my girls serve and help and smile and laugh during all the activities. Bret and I were there to help when needed and that was good too! All in all, it was a fabulous day! (and windy as you can tell by the pics!)
He is risen! He is risen indeed!

PS my rose bush is in full bloom!!!

After the rest of the family arrived home from E-Rock on Saturday.....I had bought everything we needed to decorate eggs. AND I had boiled about 2 dozen eggs. Very fun and entertaining. We haven't done that in a while - so it was fun to do.
Happy Easter everyone!

Flashback Friday

May 2010

December 2010

What a difference a year makes!! I'm reflecting about the Hastings family today, because 2 of our children are graduating this year. And both moms are wondering where all the time went!! We have enjoyed each moment and relish what the future holds; but it is still bittersweet to see our children.....I mean youth, spread their wings and fly onto newer paths. We pray God's blessings on both of you, Luke and Alissa!! Carpe Diem!

Love,
Shelly

I wonder how many more times we will be able to CRAM all 9 onto the couch and take a picture with all of them in it??!! Hopefully lots! :))
